Juicy Cheezy Burgers
Summer is upon us so that means cook outs! If you want to make a really great tasting burger then these burgers are the ones to make. The are also super easy!
2 lb ground chuck
2 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp black pepper
5 slc american cheese ( like kraft)
5 hamburger buns
1
Combine first 4 ingredients together in a bowl.
2
make 10 evenly sized patties
3
cut each piece of cheese into 4 even squares. (I just fold mine over twice.) Put the cheese stacks in the middles of one patty and then stack the other patty on top and seal the two patties together. Repeat with the remaining patties.

You can cook this on the stove top in a skillet or on the grill. On the stove top cook on medium heat until browned. On the grill cook on med-low. Cook till browned. If the burgers start to puff up while cooking just insert a tooth pick on the top of the puff.
5
Serve on hamburger buns.
This is also good served with sauteed mushrooms and onions on top!

The Best Coleslaw!
This is my most favorite Cole Slaw. I tend to be a coleslaw snob so you know that is has to be GOOD! I got the recipe from a book that has Charleston, SC restaurant recipes in it. This is from Hyman's Seafood. I even ate there when I visited and it was yummy! I hope you enjoy this super easy recipe.
2 bags of cut up coleslaw cabbage (you can get what ever kind you prefer)
1/2 cup relish
1 tsp. celery seed
1/2 cup Mayo
1/3 cup mustard
1/2 cup sugar
Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. You will probably think that that can't be enough ingredients to cover all the cabbage mix but it is. I always make mine the night before so that the slaw has time to absorb and marinate. stick in the fridge and let it chill overnight. The next day you will notice that it has shrunk quite a bit but that's normal. Stir it real well again and enjoy!

All Catapillers go to Heaven
So some of you may know that Jada's favorite animal is a butterfly. Well today Ammon being the boy he is decided to kill a poor little catapiller with a stick. When I say kill I mean chop him in half with a stick. So jada came inside with the poor little dead catapiller on a leaf to let me know what Ammon had done. She was very sad. I said oh no that poor catapiller never had a chance to turn into a butterfly. Then the water works started. She just cried and cried. So I told her that I was sorry but the catapiller went to heaven. She then came inside and said a prayer. She came back and told me what she said. She said " dear Heavenly Father please fix the catapiller. In the name of Jesus Christ amen." As she told me this she was also acting it out and showed me how she got on her knees to say the prayer. I just smiled real big and gave her a hug. I thought that it was so sweet. I guess she does listen when we pray. I just think how Heavenly Father must of smiled too hearing that sweet little prayer.

GG's in town and Landon is getting SO big
So Josh's grandmother has finally payed us a visit. She has been trying to get up here to visit us for sometime but something always comes up. She called me Monday evening and asked if she could come up here on Thursday. I checked my calendar and said looks good to me. She got here Thursday evening and stayed till Saturday Morning. Josh had to start the night shift on Friday night at work so it gave GG (that's what the kids call her) and I some time to talk. I really enjoyed her visit. She sure is a spunky lady for being 81. We hope that GG can come visit more often. While she was here I took her and the kids up to Bays Mountain. We really enjoyed it! I also drove her through downtown Jonesborough and told her some about the town.
Also I wanted to post some recent pics of Landon too! He is getting so big. He started cutting a tooth yesterday and so he hasn't been in the best of spirits. He is also sitting up a little too. He can sit up on his own for a few seconds before falling over. I can not stop kissing that boy enough. He just lights up my day with his big smile and dimples!

Man Catching Fried Chicken
The chicken promises to" catch a man". If he doesn't take the bait then he is not worth having!
8 chicken thighs or legs with skin
2 eggs
4 cups of buttermilk
6 cups of Kentucky kernel seasoned flour
2 TBL of Baking Powder
1 regular size bottle of Vegetable oil
a deep skillet (iron skillet is preferred or a fry daddy deep fryer)
Wash the chicken. In a large bowl beat the eggs. Add the buttermilk to a 9x13 dish and eggs and blend together. Add the chicken to the milk mixture and marinate for at least an hour. You can even marinate in the fridge over night too if you want.
Pour the oil in a large skillet and place on medium heat.
Roll the chicken one piece at a time in the seasoned flour. (make sure you add the 2 TBL of baking powder to the seasoned flour and mix together)
Fry in the hot oil until the chicken is golden brown. ( If in a skillet then 5 minutes on each side turning about once.) 10 minutes total
Something to talk about
Ok so I decided to finally give into all this blogness and write my own instead of just reading everyone elses. I did not ever write one because I felt like my life just wasn't that interesting. But having 3 kids has defiantly changed my mind. I also like to cook so I decided I would also add recipes to my blog too, that way when life is boring at least my taste buds and yours won't be. So I hope you enjoy my little blog about my family, food and sometimes friends too!
